You must be living under the rocks if you don’t know who Heng Swee Keat is here in Singapore. As at January, 2021, he still holds the position of the deputy prime minster of Singapore.
When it comes to having a rich profile, Mr Keat has it all as he as served in various positions across Singapore.
Before his sojourn into politics, Keat held the position of Managing Director (MD) of Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) which acts as the Central Bank of Singapore. This was a position he occupied for 6 years (2005 – 2011).
The Banker, a British Magazine in 2011 named him as “the Asia-Pacific Central Bank Governor of the Year”.

The Singaporean politician was born on the 1st of November, 1961. He had both his secondary education at Raffles Institution. Keat later left Singapore to study at Cambridge where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A) degree in Economics from Christ’s College in 1983.
He also currently holds a Masters in Public Administration which he he obtained from John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University in 1993.
His professional career began in 1983 after following his return from Cambridge at the Singapore Police Force. He later held different positions such as Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Trade and Industry before he served as the Managing Director of MAS.
Keat joined politics in 2011 when he ran on the platform of People’s Action Party (PAP) to represent his constituency.
On the 1st of May, 2019, he became the 12th Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore.
